Mock draft season has begun around the NFL and they are just flying at us right now. It's like that scene in Star Wars where the Millennium Falcon jumps to hyper speed and you just see all those white lights. Those white lights are mock drafts.
It's hard to keep track of all of them. We found this cool tool called Grinding the Mocks that does all that work for you. They went through all the mock drafts and collected all the data so you don't have to. All their number crunching has shown us what players could be available to the Lions when the 29th pick comes up. Here's what the numbers say.
Penn State edge Chop Robinson seems to find his way to the Lions a lot. He's been featured in 531 mock drafts so far and his expected draft position per the model is 29.4. It's worth noting that Robinson is on a bit of downslide right now.
Some other players that are in the Lions area that they could have interest in are Missouri cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr, Georgia cornerback Kamari Lassiter, Washington edge Bralen Trice, Missouri edge Darius Robinson, Alabama edge Chris Braswell and Texas interior defensive lineman T'Vondre Sweat.
It's a fun tool and I recommend taking a look at it if you're a draft nerd. The charts give you a really good idea of who is rising and falling on the draft boards. You can see Robinson is falling, but look at the rise that T'Vondre Sweat is on.
I could play with this thing all day.
