Philadelphia Eagles’ 2024 NFL Schedule: Release date, opponents, biggest games, and predictions
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles' offseason is in full swing now that the 2024 NFL Draft and free agency are out of the way. From this point on, it's all about perfecting the 90-man roster via OTAs, workouts, and training camp.

One key offseason aspect is hurling itself towards us over the coming weeks, as well, and that's the NFL's schedule release. We already know the Eagles' 2024 opponents, but when and where they play the opposition is far more valuable then simply knowing who they play.

So, let's not waste any more time and go over everything we currently know about the Eagles' 2024 schedule, and more.

Eagles' Schedule Release Date

The NFL teased during the draft that schedules will be released in May, although it didn't give us an exact date. Based off the last couple of years, however, it should come out around the middle of May, as it was released on May 12 in 2022 and May 11 in 2023.

Once that comes out, we will update this with the Eagles' exact schedule.

Home and Away Opponents

Games played at Lincoln Financial Field: New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders, Carolina Panthers, Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons, Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers, Jacksonville Jaguars

Away games: New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders, Baltimore Ravens, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cincinnati Bengals, Los Angeles Rams

Biggest Games on the Vikings' 2024 Schedule

Every divisional game: Any NFC East team is always a tough matchup for the Eagles because they're THE team to beat, so everyone brings their 'A' game. Boo Cowboys.
Eagles vs. Buccaneers: Holy PTSD from last season. After getting blown out by the Bucs in Round 1 of the playoffs, let's hope the Eagles are hungry enough to let them know who the better team really is.
Eagles vs. Baltimore: The Ravens fell a game short of making the Super Bowl last year. They're going to be a team the Eagles need to beat this year.
Eagles vs. Packers: I had to throw this matchup in here because it kicks off Week 1.. in BRAZIL.

Predicting Primetime Matchups and Week 1/Week 18 Opponents

Which games will be primetime viewing?

Including Thursday night, the Black Friday game, Thanksgiving/Christmas, Sunday night, and Monday Night Football my guess is the Eagles get at least five primetime slots.

Based on the better-looking teams heading into the 2024 season, those primetime opponents will likely be the Baltimore Ravens, Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Bengals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cleveland Browns.

Who are the Week 1 and Week 18 opponents?

Unlike many teams, the Eagles already know their Week 1 opponent and that's the Green Bay Packers since they're playing internationally in Brazil. The NFL loves scheduling division rivals toward the end of the year, so I'm going to say the Commanders are the Week 18 opponent.

Strength of Schedule (based off Vegas win totals, not 2023 record)

Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis does this cool thing every year where he ranks teams' strength of schedule based off Vegas' projected win totals for the upcoming season. He doesn't base it off the standard last-year's-record model and it makes a lot more sense, because of all the change teams go through during the offseason.

At the time of this publication, he hasn't updated it to reflect Vegas' updated, post-draft totals and I'll update this once the information becomes available. Regardless, Sharp has the Eagles' SOS as the ninth-easiest. The Steelers, Patriots, Browns, and Ravens have the toughest schedules this year, as you can see below:

Revenge Games on the Eagles' 2024 schedule

  • Playoff PTSD vs. Tampa: The Eagles lost on the road to Tampa in the playoffs which capped off their disastrous 2023 season. That embarrassing loss should only give them a reason to win.
  • Saquon Barkley plays the Giants twice: Barkley joined his former rival, and now he has to beat the team that stayed true to him not once, but twice. Fans are going to go wild for this.
  • Doug Pederson out to get Philly: The Eagles haven’t lost to the Jags since 2006 and they're going to try to keep it that way against Philly's former head coach when he comes to the Linc.

5 Must-watch Matchups

  • Kellen Moore vs. Cowboys: The former Cowboys' offensive coordinator is now on the good side. He could hold the key to sweeping Dallas this season.
  • Eagles' secondary vs. CeeDee Lamb AND Ja'Marr Chase. : Oh man it's going to be fun to watch the Eagles' new and improved secondary keep CeeDee Lamb AND Ja'Marr Chase locked down this season.
  • Russell Wilson vs. Jalen Carter, Bryce Huff: Russell Wilson in Pittsburgh will be interesting to watch. However, he's going to feel the pressure from the Eagles' defense. We'll be rooting for a sack. And yay for the two PA teams battling it out.
  • Commanders new team vs. Eagles: Speaking of quarterbacks, the Commanders drafted Jayden Daniels No. 2 overall. His "welcome to the NFL moment" might come against the Birds.
  •  Saquon Barkley vs. Giants run defense: Have to throw Barkley in here again because it's going to be a blood bath each time the Eagles face New York. My hope is Barkley doesn't hold back and logs his best game both times.
